This 1986 Mercedes-Benz 280GE is a European-market Cabriolet that spent time in Canada before being imported to the US by the current owner in 2017. The truck is finished in Beige Gray Metallic with a black hard top over plaid cloth upholstery. Power is provided by a 2.8-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed automatic transmission, a dual-range transfer case, and three locking differentials. Work during the current ownership reportedly included reupholstering the interior, servicing the transmission, and replacing the spark plugs, speedometer cable, and hood release cable. This 280GE is offered on dealership consignment with service records, a removed soft top, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Washington title.
The body has reportedly been refinished in Beige Gray Metallic (7728) and was touched up by the seller, who states that rust has been repaired under the windshield seal, below the taillight, and on a door. A replacement windshield has also been installed, and additional equipment includes fog lights, headlight and turn signal guards, and a split rear bumper. A removed soft top is included in the sale, though it is missing the center bow sections.
Five-spoke 15″ wheels are wrapped in BFGoodrich Radial Long Trail T/A tires sized 31×10.50″. Bilstein shocks are fitted, and braking is handled by front discs and rear drums. A brake fluid flush was recently performed per the seller.
The plaid seats were reportedly reupholstered with replacement foam and fabric in 2019. Wood trim has been added to the dashboard, and additional equipment includes air conditioning, floor mats, and a Pioneer head unit with Panasonic speakers.
Instrumentation includes a 180-km/h speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The speedometer cable is said to have been replaced, and approximately 93k kilometers (~58k miles) miles are shown on the five-digit mechanical odometer. Total mileage is unknown.
The 2.8-liter M110 inline-six sends power to the rear or all four wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission and a two-speed transfer case. Maintenance performed during current ownership reportedly included a transmission service, new spark plugs, and a replacement hood latch cable. The water pump is said to squeak intermittently when driving.
The August 2020 Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and displays history in Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia, and Washington from its first entry in June 2005. |
